Simple ECG Frequently Asked Questions

We regret that we can not answer individual medical questions, if you think you have an emergency please call your doctor or 911 immediately.

Please remember that the Simple ECG

  • Will NOT tell you if you have heart problems. Only your physician can do that. You should NOT interpret the measurement results yourself.
  • Is NOT a diagnostic device. It is only an ECG recorder.
  • Is NOT a substitute for a traditional ECG diagnosis.
  • Is NOT recommended for users with pacemakers.

What you should NOT do:

  • Do NOT operate Simple ECG while using other electrical devices.
  • Do NOT connect Simple ECG to the PC via USB cable when acquiring ECG.
  • Do NOT use accessories other than those provided by the manufacturer. Do NOT use USB cable other than that supplied by manufacturer.
  • Do NOT subject the device to water and liquid spillage. Do NOT clean with alcohol, acetones or any other flammable chemical agents. Do NOT use with any lotions.
  • Do NOT place the device and its accessories under direct sunlight and harsh environments.
  • Do NOT disassemble Simple ECG. It may cause device malfunction, device failure or damage and you will loose all warranty.

Ordering

I have not yet received my order/ how do I find out the status of my order?
Once you have ordered your device you will receive an email confirming the order. On receipt of all the order documentation (including the prescription) the order will be processed. Each order will be dispatched within 2 to 3 days. Once the order has been dispatched you will be emailed with a tracking number. If you have not received any of these please email us at info@hhmedicalcorp.com

How will my order be delivered?
All orders are dispatched using UPS ground service – once your order is dispatched we will email you your tracking number.

The computer will not allow me to send an order online.
Please check the following:

  • Have you accepted our privacy policy and terms and conditions? Please ensure you have clicked the ‘yes’ button on the relevant page.
  • Are you over the age of 18? Orders cannot be accepted from any persons under the age of 18.
  • Have you filled in all the mandatory information fields? All this information is needed to proceed with an order.
  • Have you checked all your payment details, and your credit card is still active?
  • You cannot order a Simple ECG device without a prescription or obtaining a prescription form our on-line Physician.
  • You can only obtain an on-line prescription if you are a resident of Utah, Wyoming or Nevada – all other clients must get a prescription from their primary care physician before proceeding with order.
  • You cannot obtain an on-line prescription if your delivery address is not in Utah, Wyoming or Nevada.
  • Have you scanned/faxed your prescription correctly – ensure you include your order number clearly on the document so it can be matched to your Order.

How do I get a prescription to order the device?
If you live in Utah, Wyoming or Nevada you can obtain a prescription On-line by completing the On-line consultation procedure. If you do not live in any of these States you will need to get your primary care physician or health care provider to write you a prescription for the device. The “Simple ECG device prescription” in the order section can be downloaded by clicking here. Give the blank, generic prescription form to your physician. Once this form is complete you can proceed with your order either on-line or by fax/mail. You prescription must accompany your order to complete the transaction.

H&H Medical Corporation and its personnel (including our on-line practitioner) do not give medical advice or medical opinions. Our aim is to provide you with a means to order specific medical devices that can assist you to collect information about your heart arrhythmias, which can then be interpreted with the help of your doctor or health care provider.

 

Simple ECG

What is Simple ECG?
Simple ECG is a handheld ECG monitor. The main function of Simple ECG is to record ECG tracings anywhere and anytime. Users only need to place both thumbs on the electrodes, and their ECG will be recorded. The parameters measured will be displayed on the LCD screen. Together with the software, users can transfer data files to PC for analysis and management of data.

How do I use the device?
Each handheld ECG monitor is delivered with a set of instructions – please refer to these to instruct you on how to use the device. If you are still experiencing problems please complete the customer support form.

How does my Medical Practitioner view the results?
Once you have purchased your handheld ECG monitor, H&H will send your designated medical practitioner details about the product and instructions on how to download the information you have collected.

What are some of the factors that may affect the measurement by Simple ECG?

  • The device needs to be head steady without any shaking during the measurement.
  • The devise may have trouble if your thumbs are too dry.
  • You need to keep your thumbs on the pad for a continuous 30 seconds.
  • You only need to place your thumbs gently on the conduction pads.
  • Do not talk or move during the measurement.

Even when users have followed the regular procedure described in the User’s Manual to operate Simple ECG, the user may still experience a weak signal. Please complete the customer support form if you are still experiencing problems after reviewing all these FAQ.

I have taken two measurements one after the other and they are different.
Please review the points in the above question to ensure you are being consistent in the way you take the measurements. If problems persist consult your physician.

How do I know that the measurement is complete?
The screen will display your results directly after measurement is taken. During the measurement the display will tell you it is measuring and the time to completion counts down in the bottom right hand corner of the display.

Why does “Noise” appear? Why does P wave sometimes disappear during measurement?
Please try using Lead II by using the external electrode cable and adhesive ECG pad. Place the red end on right arm, and the blue end on left leg.

Why do you need to use auxiliary electrode cable? How do you use the optional auxiliary electrodes?
The auxiliary electrode cable is for users who cannot hold Simple ECG steadily without shaking, or users whose thumbs are too dry, or if the signals are too small using dry electrodes. For detailed instructions, please follow the steps described in P.11 of the User’s Manual. Please buy extra adhesive ECG electrode pads from a qualified medical device store or via the accessories page on our website.

Can Simple ECG be stopped or powered off in the middle of the measurement?
During the 30 seconds measurement, Simple ECG can be stopped or powered off. The measured data will be saved if you stop in the middle of the measurement. If you power off the device in the middle of the measurement, the data will not be saved.

Will static electricity affect the measurement of Simple ECG?
Simple ECG is CE certified and has passed electromagnetic interference and compatibility tests. Under normal circumstances, static electricity will not affect the operation of Simple ECG. However, strong EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) may affect the operation of the device.

How do you manage ECG signals if multiple people use a single Simple ECG device?
Data cannot be managed on the Simple ECG device directly. If there is more than one user, please use the software provided for data management.

Why does the temperature of Simple ECG rise after the batteries are inserted?
The rise in temperature is caused by the improper direction (polarities) of the poles of the batteries when inserted. Please remove the batteries quickly and then reinsert the batteries correctly. Please allow the Simple ECG to drop to a normal operating temperature before making any measurements.

Can the parameters measured by Simple ECG be used for clinical diagnosis?
The ECG tracings recorded by Simple ECG is not for clinical diagnostic purposes. It is only to be used for physician’s reference, and to be used for personal home care health management.

Why does the data recorded in the Simple ECG disappear after batteries are replaced?
Data will remain in the memory for approximately 2 minutes only during battery replacement. Thus, please replace batteries as quickly as possible to preserve data.

What is the maximum memory of Simple ECG hardware?
Simple ECG can store up to 100 data files in its memory only. When the 100 files limit is exceeded, Simple ECG has a looping memory and will delete the oldest data and save the newest data. Please try to transfer data files to the PC regularly. It is important to save all ECG data for personal health management.

How do I know that the handheld ecg monitor has recorded my data?
You can instantly review the recorded data on screen after you have taken a measurement – (see pg 15 in the instruction manual) or you can transmit the data onto your computer and review it there (see pg 22).

How do I retrieve my data/upload it onto my computer?
The instruction manual will give you step by step instructions on how to retrieve your data from the handheld ecg monitor. (See pg 15-16, 22) In addition we will also send your physician instructions on how to retrieve this data as well.

How do you transfer Simple ECG’s ECG data files by internet?
ECG report can be saved as JPG file using the software. You can send the report as an attached file to your physician for reference, using your regular email account.

How do you maintain Simple ECG?
When the dry conduction electrodes on Simple ECG are used regularly, grease and dirt may accumulate, which may affect the recording of signal. Please use a clean wiping cloth to remove grease and dirt. Please Do NOT use any cleaning solutions or organic solvents to prevent damaging the device.

Can Simple ECG use other external power supply?
NO. Simple ECG is to be operated by two replaceable 1.5V (AAA) alkaline batteries. Please Do NOT use other external power supply which may be hazardous and may damage the system and the device.

Can Simple ECG use accessories other than the ones provided in the standard package?
All standard package accessories meet special specifications of medical device regulations. Please Do NOT use any other accessories other than the ones provided in the standard package to avoid hazards and subsequent damages to the device and to avoid hazards. If you need to replace these accessories please order them via our accessories page.

What to do if the parameters measured by Simple ECG Do NOT correspond with the user’s condition?
In case of an emergency physical condition, users should contact emergency services immediately, or go report immediately to the hospital. If the measured parameters Do NOT correspond with user’s condition, please make sure all standard operating procedures are followed. If not, please contact a physician for further check up.

Can any other fingers be used beside the thumbs for measurement of ECG?
You may use other fingers other than the thumbs for measurement using Simple ECG. Please make sure you place the fingers gently on the electrodes and DO NOT move or talk during measurement. You may choose to use the external electrode cable and ECG pads for better ECG trace measurement.

Can Simple ECG be used while the user is standing up, sitting down, or lying down? Will the measurements make any difference?
Different body positions may affect the cardiac signals slightly. However, by following the standard operating procedure closely, Simple ECG is able to record ECG signals correctly.

After exercising, can ECG be measured using Simple ECG? Will the measurement be correct?
Yes, ECG can be recorded after exercise. During measurement, please remain in a stable position to avoid noise interference.

Can Simple ECG be used during commuting?
During commuting, if user is able to keep a stable position, Simple ECG can be used to measure ECG. The usage of Simple ECG is not recommended during the operation of any vehicle.

Can conducting gel or other fluids be used when using Simple ECG?
Simple ECG is designed to be operated without any conducting gel or other fluids. Please Do NOT apply any conducting gel or other fluids to avoid damaging the thumb electrodes and the device.
